In Loving Memory

This picture was taken when it was in the process of being blocked. Also on my phone so the color isn’t great, etc etc. However, this doily is the best one I’ve ever made. It’s like a diamond in the rough.

This particular one is for my Grandfather. He passed away suddenly January 16th morning. Making this doily helped me come to grips with his passing. He loved my threadwork so I wanted him to have one all his own that his urn can rest on. Even though it’s not the prettiest doily (warts and all) it was made out of the purest love I can ever imagine.

And yes one of the wheats is missing a leaf. I did that on purpose. Visual representation of how we all lost something. Just a little leaf of what we are but hurts nonetheless.
